Produce Sourcing Consultant
This short-term consultant position will create a tool to support domestic food bank sourcers in three states in the Southwest to identify opportunities for produce donation such as produce re-pack houses, distribution centers, agricultural producers, etc. This is line with the goals in Feeding America’s project, the Southwest Boundless Collaboration, to encourage food banks to “source to excess” and share their excess product outside of the food bank’s service area.
The Project Director will supply the consultant with information from state departments of agriculture, TIPA, FPAA and Produce Blue Book. The consultant will identify additional resources based on their knowledge and expertise. The consultant will review the information and make a recommendation for the format of the tool keeping in mind that each food bank will need specific information for their geographic service area.
Ultimately, the final result will provide food bank sourcer’s a simplified way to access information from the resources. The consultant will provide guidance on how to best present the information based on the possible ways of accessing the resources and how often they are updated. The consultant will make a recommendation on how to include more inputs/resources into the tool and how to update the tool.
