Job Title: Food Safety Director
Location: Mission, Texas
Industry: Citrus Grower/Packer/Shipper Employment
Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Vice President

Key Responsibilities:

•Develop, implement, and monitor food safety programs (e.g., HACCP, GMP, SSOP).

•Conduct regular inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to ensure compliance with 3rd party audits, local, state, and federal food safety regulations.

•Investigate and report both food and occupational safety incidents, non-conformances, and implement corrective actions.

•Maintain documentation and records related to both food and occupational safety protocols and regulatory compliance.

•Collaborate with cross-functional teams including production, quality assurance, and supply chain to ensure food safety standards are integrated throughout operations.

•Provide training and guidance to staff on food safety procedures and regulatory updates.

•Liaise with regulatory agencies and third-party auditors during inspections and certifications.

•Stay current with industry trends, emerging risks, and changes in food safety legislation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Supply Chain Mgmt, or a related field.

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a food safety or quality assurance role.

• Certification in HACCP, PCQI, or equivalent preferred.

• Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, and other relevant food safety regulations.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in the produce industry, food manufacturing and/or processing.

• Familiarity with food safety management systems such as SQF, BRC, or ISO 22000.

• Strong leadership and training capabilities.
